Fashion Revolution Week is a global campaign that takes place 23rd-28th April to build awareness and demand greater transparency in the fashion supply chain. It was set up following the devastating collapse of the five-storey Rana Plaza commercial building in Bangladesh on 24th April 2013.
The disaster killed 1,138 and injured approximately 2,500 more after garment factory workers were ordered to return to work despite cracks appearing in walls the day before. When the news spread that the factories supplied major clothing labels, fashion lovers around the world began campaigning for change, including greater transparency in textile supply chains.
Although not a textile business, we are part of the fashion industry and I'm proud to say that at Halia Rose, we have a close relationship with our suppliers and use sustainable, eco-friendly and vegan materials for our jewellery collection. Our packaging is recyclable and our gift boxes are made of recycled cardboard as well. Fashion Revolution week is a great way of raising awareness of ethics within the fashion industry and how we can help make purchase decisions that also value the effect on our planet.
Join us on 23rd April 8-9pm for the special Fashion Revolution #EthicalHour Twitter chat which Halia Rose is sponsoring.
